This compact extension to the rear of an East Dulwich “Half House”, a distinct local typology, demanded an efficient use of space while creating a much greater sense of openness
A connection to the rear garden was essential, while celebrating the act of cooking and hosting was a key driver. The client wanted something a bit different, with the kitchen next to the garden for an atypical sense of dynamism, with a folding frameless skylight wrapping over the hob. The dining area, by contrast, was tucked back into a cosy nook within the space.
The kitchen was stepped down to garden level to create some additional headroom, defined by vibrant quarry tile flooring that runs through to the new patio.
