Jeddo Road

A project to renew two ageing Victorian maisonettes in Ealing, dramatically improving accommodation through subtle contemporary interventions. Traditional materials including slate, brick and render were reinterpreted in a new and interesting way.

A key part of the brief was to open up the upper maisonette, which felt quite hemmed in, with limited outlook and amenity. Large, generous windows and a discreet first floor terrace allows the upper apartment to engage with the external environment, while carefully maintaining privacy for each unit.

The project provides a case study in how to upgrade London’s stock of Victorian maisonettes to suit modern living.
